Browsers

What is a browser? A browser is a program that is used to “browse” the internet. Most people use Internet Explorer as it comes with Microsoft Windows when you purchase a computer. There are however many different browsers available, most of which are free.

We only test our site in the newest versions of each browser. If you are using an outdated version of your browser things may not work and certain sections of the site as well as certain features may automatically be disabled until you upgrade to the newest browser.

Most browsers are free so there’s no cost involved. We get no money from you upgrading so we definitely aren’t forcing you but its really in your best interest that you upgrade.

Here are a couple reasons to stay up to date:

  • Security- Only the newest browsers are safe. Not to scare you but anything but the most up to date browser can be taken advantage of. You run the risk of an attack if you were to visit a not-so-reputable website.
  • Compatibility- New browsers support the newest features. Without getting to technical, if you don’t have the newest browser you cannot use the newest features that administrators are putting on their websites.
  • Rendering- Sounds technical but is simply how the page gets displayed. .There are standards that we designers and programmers as well as browser developers abide by. These standards evolve over time and so only the newest browsers render sites correctly. If you use something outdated you will notice images out of place, words on top of each, etc.

These are only a few of the reasons to upgrade. Each program only involve a couple clicks to get it installed and begin using it. If you need technical support you can always ask for it in our forums.

Here is a list of the sites where you can download the newest versions. Oh, and if you want to know what we use/recommend, its definitely Firefox. With less security issues, better features, and the best performance in speed and rendering, its a upper class browser. No i didn’t get paid for saying that.
